Record your screen with Recordwow

Sign in to your workspace, choose what to capture, make a short audio test, then record, edit and export. The web recorder works without the Chrome extension.

Before you start

Use your Recordwow workspace. Access is currently by invitation; request an invitation if you do not have an account. Check the storage and processing limits shown in your workspace.

Close private tabs, hide notifications and remove sensitive information from the area you will record. Make a short test before recording a long lesson. Browser permissions, operating-system permissions and the selected capture source affect which audio and video sources are available.

Record a screen, window or tab

  1. Choose the source. Start a recording in the web workspace. In the browser’s sharing prompt, select the tab, window or screen you want to show.
  2. Check your microphone and camera. Enable them if you want narration or a presenter view, and approve the browser’s permission prompt for the devices you choose.
  3. Check computer audio. If the sharing prompt offers an audio option, select it when needed. Availability varies by browser, operating system and capture source.
  4. Make a short test. Play it back and confirm that the screen is readable and every required audio source is audible.
  5. Record the walkthrough. Demonstrate one task at a time. Stop the recording when finished, then review it in the workspace.

Already have a recording? Import MP4, MOV, M4V or WebM video instead. PNG and JPEG images can also be imported. A phone recording can be transferred as a file; that does not require a native Recordwow mobile app.

Edit, export and share

Trim unwanted sections, add captions and review any sensitive information before sharing. A short walkthrough can also become a written guide with source-linked screenshots. Review the text for accuracy before distributing it.

Download an MP4, export a written guide as HTML or Markdown, or share an approved revision with your audience. Check the recipient’s access before sending a protected link. Password, expiry and revocation controls are available for shared links; protected links cannot be embedded.

Recordwow offers 1080p and 4K MP4 exports. Choose an output suited to the source and audience. Exporting a low-resolution source at 4K does not recover missing detail. See video editing and written tutorial workflows.

Install the Chrome companion

The companion adds screenshot tools, a recording launcher and optional cursor metadata. Its local screenshot tools do not require a Recordwow account. Workspace recording still requires access.

  1. Download the extension ZIP and extract it.
  2. Open chrome://extensions in Chrome and turn on Developer mode.
  3. Choose Load unpacked and select the extracted capture-extension folder.
  4. Pin Recordwow to the toolbar for convenient access.

This download installs manually; it is not a Chrome Web Store listing. Review the extension privacy policy for how screenshots and optional metadata are handled.

Common recording problems

Why is computer audio missing?
The selected source may not offer audio capture. Reopen the browser sharing prompt, check whether an audio option is available, and test that source. Microphone permission alone does not enable system audio.
Why is my microphone silent?
Confirm the selected input, check browser and operating-system permission settings, and make sure the microphone is not muted. Play back a short recording before continuing.
Why can’t I sign in?
Workspace access is by invitation. Use the account associated with your invitation or email the Recordwow team for help. Downloading the extension does not create a workspace account.
Why does a 4K export look soft?
Output detail depends on the original recording. Capture legible text at an appropriate source resolution and avoid excessive zoom before evaluating the export.
Do AI and meeting tools work automatically?
AI generation, voices, avatars and meeting attendance require connected providers and their own account terms. Meeting attendance also needs host permission. You can import a transcript as an alternative input for draft meeting notes.
