The deciding question
OBS and Recordwow can be used in the same workflow. Build scenes and capture the event in OBS when you need its production controls, then import an exported recording into Recordwow for the lesson and written guide. That avoids judging an editor by live-broadcast requirements. Test the exported audio and video before recording a long session, and keep the original capture so later edits do not depend on a single finished MP4.

Separate the recording location from the processing location. Verify where source media, exports and backups are stored, and whether the workflow still works when disconnected.
Change a real detail in the source material. Time the work needed to correct the explanation, inspect the final output and share the revision. This reveals more about everyday use than the first polished demo.
Check that your OBS Studio plan and permissions allow export. Save a supported video or image file and keep your original project as a backup. A hosted link alone is not a portable editing project.
Import the media, arrange the explanation and add written steps. Review captions and screenshots against the source so the guide says what the recording actually shows.

Start with an exported media file that you are allowed to use. Recordwow accepts common video and image formats, including MP4, MOV, WebM, PNG and JPEG. Native editor projects, comments, analytics and access settings do not transfer automatically. Check the export rights and format in your current plan.
